  2. Hello, I work for the OC Dept of Edu and, per usual, am always hoping to find local resources to share with our students and with my team. We have a meeting coming up in the next couple of weeks and I would LOVE to spotlight SAC SCE/CTE during my part of the workshop. We have many of our own alumni who are flourishing at SAC, so your programs are near and dear🙂

Is there anyway that I might be able to come down and get a mini-“tour” of your services? Ultimately, I would like to know what a new graduate who has a more challenging “background” might expect when she walks through your doors? Additionally, what might a non-grad with a challenging “background” encounter? I imagine a big push on CTE and certificate programs with these students and am wondering which of these programs students like mine tend to migrate towards. Which are they most successful in?

Thank you for your time! I look forward to hearing from you! Is there a better email or contact I can forward these questions to?

    • Dear Janis,

Thank you for your interest in our CTE Certificate programs. I have forwarded your inquiry onto Mike Arroyo, CTE Program Manager, and cc’d you into the same email.

  3. does the usb / flash drive have to be a certain size? I have an old 2gb one, will that be big enough or do I have to go buy a larger one?

when and where is the new student orientation? is it the first class meeting or something else?

can I take teacher-led classes and individualized lab classes at the same time? like, do the group class then spend a few hours in the lab doing a different class?

If I don’t pass the orientation for computers test in the computer lab, can I still take the teacher-led class in the same semester?

thanks in advance for answering my questions.

    • Hi Jennifer,

      To answer your questions:

Q1. Does the usb / flash drive have to be a certain size? I have an old 2gb one, will that be big enough or do I have to go buy a larger one?

ANSWER: 2 GB flash drive is large enough.

when and where is the new student orientation? is it the first class meeting or something else?

Q2. Can I take teacher-led classes and individualized lab classes at the same time? like, do the group class then spend a few hours in the lab doing a different class?
ANSWER: Yes, you may take teacher-led classes and individualized lab classes at the same time.

Q3. If I don’t pass the orientation for computers test in the computer lab, can I still take the teacher-led class in the same semester?
ANSWER: Yes. We always prefer that you enroll in Keyboarding I as the first course you take in the computer lab.

  4. Hi, my name is Hanan I would like to register for Spring class, English writing and computer skill.the only problem I have I can attend first day on January 11 but I will be out for tow weeks, but if I sign up for Friday and Saturday it will Be easy I will miss only one week. Is that possible to do that

    thank You

    • Hanan,

If you enroll in the computer lab in an independent study course, you may take a couple of weeks off from school provided that you notify Mike Arroyo in the computer lab (Room E-108) that you will be away for two weeks. Otherwise, you will be dropped from the course. The computer lab is open Monday through Saturday and you may us the lab any time during these days.

If you enroll in a teacher-led computer class (not in Room E-108), you must talk with your teacher to ask for approval to keep you enrolled in the class if you plan to be absent for a week or more. The teacher has the authority to drop a student from his or her class if the student misses too many class meeting dates.

I want to sign up for the Quickbook and Access classes starting July 1.
I am a California resident but have been in Brazil for the past 18 months. I will arrive in Santa Ana on July 5, thus I wouldn’t be able to attend the first day of class.

    1. How do I register for these classes?
    2. Does the VBUS260 Word cover just the basics?

  10. Hi, I have a question about general office clerk certificate.
can you tell me about class schedules for that?
I’m going to work for new company and going to study this program at the same time. so, I have to figure out what’s the best option for me.

    – how many days per week do I study to get this certificate?
    – how many hours will it be?
( prefered time will be morning and afternoon )

    – how long does It take to get a certificate?
    – how much does It cost me to study this program, I heard this is free class but, what about books?

Thanks for your answers in advance.

    Have a great day.

    – best regards

    • Dear Tobi.

There are several courses required for this certificate. Most courses you can complete in the lab where students study independently. The lab is open Monday -Thursday from 8AM-9PM and Friday and Saturday from 8AM-12PM.

Additional classes may be taken Mondays through Thursdays from 8:00.a.m. to 12:00 p.m. or from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m.

It could take one year to complete or longer depending upon the amount of time and number of classes taken. There is no charge for the classes or the books.

We hope to see you this fall.
